On January 27th in North York, Ontario at the Canlan Ice Sports York, the fourth place North York Renegades hosted the fifth place Bradford Bulls in a south division Greater Metro Hockey League match – up.

At 3:42 of the opening period and on a Renegade power play, Steven Santos fires a goal to give North York a 1 – 0 lead with Jonathan Schillaci and Connor Ventura adding the helpers on Santos’ power play marker. Bradford’s Artur Chirkov evens the game 1 – 1 with a goal behind Renegade goaltender Evan Pudry 2:39 into the second. Zakk Bekolay and Joey Keenan had the assists on the Bulls tying goal. Josh Brunton finds Bradford’s Brendan Hussey at 14:14 of the period for the Bulls go – ahead goal. Ventura scores the tying goal for the Renegades to pull North York even 2 – 2 with the Bulls at 16:44 of the middle stanza.

Janne Niemela and Karri Lehtoranta set up the Bulls third of the contest on a Bekolay goal to give Bradford a one goal lead 4:37 into the final period. With 3:40 remaining in the game, Chris Martin finds the back of Bradford’s net to tie the game 3 – 3 for the Renegades. Troy Murray and Schillaci had the contributors on Martin’s tying goal. Bradford’s Bekolay sends a pass to Bull Brendan Hussey to hand North York a 4 – 3 overtime loss 2:13 into overtime. Renegade goaltender Evan Purdy turned away 43 of 47 in North York’s 4 – 3 loss on Saturday afternoon.

The fourth place Renegades will now travel to Colborne, Ontario on February 2nd to meet the sixth place Northumberland Stars in a 7:30 p.m GMHL start.
