RAMSAY NAMED BENCH BOSS

North York, Ontario
August 5, 2015

The North York Renegades are very pleased to announce the hiring of Head Coach Ryan Ramsay as the bench boss for the 2015-2016 GMHL Season.  Ryan, 32, is a former OHL Star with the Plymouth Whalers going on to play in the AHL & ECHL before taking his talents to Germany where he retired his playing career just a few short months ago.

Ramsay is a Canadian centremen hailing from Ajax, Ontario. He was known as a tough centre who played an aggressive game. Ryan's intense personality showed on the ice where he would compete every game both physically and offensively.

Ryan was just under a point-per-game in his OHL career, notching 283 Major Junior points in 295 games.

Following juniors, Ramsay was signed directly to the NHL's St. Louis Blues and placed into their farm system. Following three seasons split between the AHL and ECHL,  Ryan was signed to the top professional German league, the DEL.

Ryan has spent the majority of the past 8 seasons playing German professional hockey before retiring in early 2015.

North York is pleased to have Ryan apart of the organization and leading the club this season. Welcome Ryan.
