Renegades Hand the Attack a Loss in GMHL Action in North York

In North York, Ontario at the Canlan Ice Sports York in a south division meeting, the third place North York Renegades took on the fifth place Toronto Attack in Greater Metro Hockey League action on November 26th. In the first games between North York and Toronto both teams have split the game with one win each with the Renegades outscoring the Attack 11 – 9.

Toronto’s Justin Pelowich – Pickup fires the first goal of the game 4:18 into the opening period with Connor Ventura and Conor Thomson drawing the helpers. Marco Luciani and Mark Mannarn set up the Renegades tying goal at 6:06 of the period with a goal from North York’s Alex Kidd. With the Renegades on a power play at 12:54 of the first, Lucas Bascio sinks the go – ahead goal to give North York a 2 – 1 lead. Patrick Zilak and Kidd drew the contributors on Bascio’s goal.

Bringing the lead to 3 – 1 was North York’s Luciani with a Renegade goal at 7:54 of the middle stanza with Bascio and Mannarn adding the assists. Dalton Barnes pulls the Attack within one on a Toronto power play 13 seconds past the halfway mark of the period with helpers coming from Ventura and Pickup. Veteran Mannarn scores the Renegades fourth of the game at the 13:47 mark of the second with Lucinai and Zilak registering the contributors. Adding to North York’s lead 14:49 into the period was Renegade Marc – Anthony Lacroix to increase the lead 5 – 2. Liam Little and Zilak had the assists on Lacroix’s goal. With 2:42 left in the second, Bascio scores his second of the contest to send the Renegades into the second intermission with a 6 – 2 lead. Zilak and Luciani contributed on Bascio’s goal.

Justin Coles finds Toronto’s Ventura for the Attack’s third of the game 4:30 into the third to close the gap to three. Adrian Bertie makes a pass to Matthew Castelli for the Renegades seventh of the game at 4:52 of the period. With 32 seconds left in the game, Kidd gives North York a 8 – 3 win with the Renegades eighth of the game with Bascio and Justin Pirie adding the helpers. 2o year old Renegade netminder Simone Pilon earned his fifth win of the 2016 – 2017 season with making 34 saves in North York’s 18th win of the season.

The Renegades will now have a break in GMHL action before heading to St. George, Ontario to meet the Ravens in a 3:00 afternoon matinee December 4th match – up.
