In a 5:15 p.m puck drop on January 8th in North York, the four place North York Renegades hosted the eighth place Oshawa River Kings in a south division regular season Greater Metro Hockey League match – up. In the first three match – ups, the Renegades have outscored the River Kings 18 – 2 in both wins in 2016.

With the Renegades shorthanded at 7:48 of the opening period, North York’s Patrick McCluskey gave the hosts a 1 – 0 lead with Patrik Zilak and Dalton Barnes adding the contributors. At 8:16 of the period, Patrick Zilak fires the Renegades second shorthanded goal of the game with Adrian Bertie and Barnes drawing the assists. Marc-Anthony Lacroix sinks North York’s third of the game to give the Renegades a 3 – 0 lead at 14:46 of the first with Alex Kidd and Alexander Noble setting up Lacroix’s goal. Anthony Zerafa increases the lead for the Renegades 4:22 into the second with Marco Luiciani and Matt Castelli adding the helpers.

Justin Gillis sends a pass to Stefan Tursic for Oshawa’s lone goal of the contest at 8:35 of the period to bring the game to 4 – 1. Alex Kidd scores the Renegades fifth of the game 37 seconds before the halfway mark of the second with Lacroix and Noble setting up Kidd’s goal. With 56 seconds left in the period, Barnes sends North York into the second intermission up 6 – 1. Raffaele Maietta and McCluskey had the assists on Barnes goal. Basey adds to the Renegades lead 12:21 into the third with Maietta and Zilak drawing the helpers. With 3:40 left in the game, North York’s Noble scores the final goal of the game with Lucas Bascio and Barnes adding the contributors. Sebastien Lefebvre made 41 saves in the Renegades 8 – 1 win over Oshawa in North York.

The (23 – 7) Renegades will now face the (7 – 19 – 3) Steam in Tottenham on January 9th in a 7:00 p.m puck drop.
