In a South division match – up in Oshawa on October 3rd, the ninth place (2 – 3 – 2) River Kings took on the third place (5 – 0) North York Renegades. The Renegades are coming off a 6 – 4 win 24 hours earlier over the Toronto Predators in Greater Metro Hockey League action.

At 9:28 of the second period, Chris Gerhardt sank the first goal of the game for the River Kings to give Oshawa a 1 – 0 lead with Anthony DiCarlo and Derek Atwood adding the assists for the hosts. With 4:30 left in the game, Patrik Zilak sinks the Renegades tying goal to even the game at 1 – 1 to send the game into overtime. Joe Taylor and Raffaele Maiette drew the assists on Zilak goal.

Nine seconds into the overtime, Raffaele Maiette fires a pass to Renegade Justin Pirie to give North York their sixth win of the season. With their sixth win of the season on Monday evening in Oshawa is one win away from the Renegades (7 – 31 – 0 – 4) record from the 2015 – 2016 GMHL season.

Renegade netminder Evan Purdy turned away 37 of 38 shots in North York’s 2 – 1 overtime win over the River Kings in Oshawa.

The Renegades will play host to the (3 – 4) Toronto Attack in North York on October 7th in GMHL regular season action in a 7:30 p.m puck drop.
